All I can say is WOW! Six weeks ago, our dog would've been pulling me on our daily walks, jumping up on every visitor in the home and barking relentlessly every time the door knocked. After six in home private sessions with Jeff, I am happy to report our dog now has a great deal of obedience and is such a joy to be around! It's amazing how it's changed our every day lives. Our dog, seven years old, now knows how to loose leash walk, reliably follow commands such as "sit," "down," and "stay." But the whole process means more than just being able to do these basic commands-- it means that we can invite guests over without our dog barking excessively or jumping up on people. It means I can walk her around town and not worry about her lunging at every person or dog who walks by. It means that I can vacuum the floor without her attacking the vacuum cleaner! Overall, the process was very straightforward and Jeff gave us clear direction as to how to work with our dog. My husband and I both put in a lot of time and energy working with her between sessions, and it was definitely worth the effort. Our friends and family who have seen the progress over the last month and a half are totally impressed! We now have a safer, more peaceful and happy home as a result! We are so thankful for Blue Bridge Dog Training and we would highly recommend Jeff to anyone who needs help training their dog!
UPDATE #1: Things are good here. Brendan and I are expecting a baby on Nov 21! We are very excited. Emmy Lou is doing well. Many friends and family have commented on her much improved behavior. Usually when company comes over we just have her go to her place and stays there until called and then calmly greet people. that works very well. If friends with babies or toddlers come over, we put her in her crate. Most of the time she is quiet in there, although she occasionally needs correction. We agreed that with others' children toddling about, it is not worth the liability to have Emmy out and risk any sort of issue. She still has a tendency to go for peoples toes sometimes but with correction will stop. I find that I just really have to be proactive with her and give her commands right away instead of waiting to see what she will do and then have to correct and redirect her. We are still amazed that we can tell her to lie down from across the room and she will do it! Walks are pleasant without pulling, and most of our life at home with her is very happy and relaxed. So that is all very good. It will be interesting to see how it all works out when we bring the baby home. We are confident that with the tools we have, we will be able to create a happy home where we all co exist, but if we have any trouble with the transition we will definitely ask for help.
UPDATE #2: We just wanted to let you know Emmy Lou is doing great with new baby Lillian! Mostly she ignores the baby. She doesn't try to jump up on us when we hold Lillian or get underfoot when we are carrying her around. The "place" command has been key for us when we just need her to be in a safe place while we are tending to the baby. Emmy Lou remains calm even when Lillian is crying. We have been so pleased and proud of Emmy Lou and thankful that we don't have to worry about her behavior. Thanks again for all you did for us! Jennia
We are so happy with the training our dog received at Blue Bridge Dog Training, we are ready to send dog #2! Jeff worked wonders! Susan
I contacted Jeff because my dog Simon was extremely anxious while outside on walks and would bark, lunge, and growl at any dog that came near him. I couldn't be happier with the progress Simon made in such a short period of time. He's so well behaved and attentive to me outside on walks, and is obviously much more confident now that he understands what is expected of him. He has even taken great strides towards behaving when he sees other dogs. Jeff has been great! Jessika
I have a Siberian Husky who is very strong willed. After taking him to two weeks of training [at a different trainer], he was still wild and hard to manage. Then Jeff came to the house to meet him, and calmed him down instantly. After staying at Blue Bridge dog training for two weeks, Meeko came home a much calmer and more behaved dog. The transformation was amazing! Jeff brought him back to our house and took the time to show us how to use the training commands. Jeff knows what he is doing and is very professional. He has a special way with Meeko. We are very happy with the results. Thank you Jeff!! I would strongly recommend Blue Bridge Dog Training to every dog owner. He also guarantees the results. Pattie
Jeff was great and very helpful and worked around our schedule to receive and return our dog. We couldn't believe how much better he was when we got him back. Will be bringing all of our dogs to Jeff to train and to board when we go on trips! Thanks again for all the help! Morgan
We have an 18 month old German Shepherd who only had minimal training. Mr Leavitt worked with him for about 8 days. When he came home he was like a different dog. He has been home for 3 days and very well behaved. Follows the commands and completed each task we have asked. I feel that our trying times are over. If we need additional help we can contact the trainer. Bill & Brenda
Jeff was amazing with my puppy (Darby). I was able to watch him work with my pup alongside his two more mature dogs and was amazed at the skill and focus and knowledge he had in training. My dog instantly trusted him and responded to his commands and I think having the peer model influence of the other dogs was a huge benefit. Jeff is like The SuperNanny for dogs! What we gained from his competent training and his counseling us has been worthwhile. I highly recommend him. Michelle
It is critical that dog owners also get trained so that they can effectively maintain their dog's newly learned behaviors. Jeff did a great job of training both our dog and us. John
My rescued 5 year old Redbone Coonhound/Boxer mix has leash & fence aggression issues that only seemed to be getting worse no matter what kind of collar or halter I used. Realizing the problem was not getting resolved and new neighbors moving next door, I was desperate. I called Blue Bridge. The professional response was immediate yet friendly and comfortable. Also, the web site was very easy to navigate. My first visit/evaluation was thorough and informative. I've only had two sessions which focused on her problem areas. I was able to go with on those sessions and was given instruction how I can progressively help El Mira. But now I understand and have the confidence to do what needs to be done. Although it will take consistent, every day work to turn the situation around, I strongly feel this will work and actually I must say, I do see progress. Thank You Very, Very Much! Holly
Over the last six month or so I was quite happy to work with Jeff to train my now 2-year old black lab, who, to start with, had pup's independent attitude. Jeff likes dogs and my dog Kodi warmed up quickly to his calm training manner. I did not believe when Jeff who said that eventually Kodi will will enjoy going into his crate in the room, as at the start it was something to be avoided at all costs for him. Now this is his "safe house." The gate is always open and he loves to go and sleep there when he feels like it. Kodi now walks well on-leash, sit/stay is easy for him, come command has improved greatly - the 40 ft training leash is a great tool to train and have control of the dog. Of course, the training is ongoing and Jeff taught me as well on how to continue to further improve Kodi's behavior. I also found out that he is smarter than I thought. Must say working with Jeff was great. He was punctual and did not overcharge either. I am happy with the results. Al
We adopted our lovely Libby from Naperville Area Humane back in Aug of 2013. She is a 2 year old shepard/lab mix and weighs approx 75 lbs. After getting her home and numerous "walk" attempts we did some research and decided to contact Prairie Path Dog Training (Jeff). He responded to my call within the day and we set up training sessions from there. Being Libby was our first pet I was nervous to take her out because I could NOT handle her on the leash. She pulled tremendously and didn't listen to me very well. So Jeff was flexible and courteous to come to us (we live a short distance from him). From Aug 2013-April 2014, Jeff's training expertise has turned our pet around. She responds to all the commands we have worked on and the pulling has decreased almost entirely, (still working on squirrel and rabbit desensitizing though). Jeff has made a world of difference in Libby and addressed all of our current needs. We plan to use PPDT for future training lessons we may need. Serena
We would like to thank Jeff @ Prairie Path Dog Training for his outstanding work with our new puppy, Xena, the Siberian husky. Wow, is this dog a handful! Prior to enrolling her with P.P.D.T., she was literally bouncing off the walls and furniture and counters, etc. Walking her was like flying a kite, the lead was always tight and God only knew what direction she was headed. Now, she responds to a number of different commands around the house and actually makes eye contact with us awaiting her next command on walks. Thanks Jeff for a terrific job with our puppy and good luck on your future projects. Annmarie, Ed and Luke
Heidi was about a 1 1/2 year old Golden Retriever, and she would create havoc by climbing up on a nice living room sofa. The owners could not prevent her from doing this, so they put umbrellas and other household items on and around the couch to block access. After one session, the area around the couch was clear and Heidi would stay off. Jana
This was our very first trainee. No testimonial, but she is a really cute pup!
